Lose weight. Stop smoking. Go to church. Travel more. Complain less…
We’ve all done it. We resolve to start the New Year as better versions of ourselves. The problem herein lies in our determination to keep the excitement going all year long. After the parties die down, lights are taken down, and the additional pounds stabilize, it is imperative to take a moment for self reflection. If not, our resolutions are gone with the wind.
For 2011, I have selected resolutions that will improve my quality of life and that of those around me. As with everyone else, the realities of the economic climate have started to set0in . I resolve to not let this damper my positive outlook on life. I will take 2011 one day at a time, listen to those who care about me and strive to be the best version of myself.
What are your resolutions? Will you be more active in your child’s life and school? Will you volunteer at a local charity? Will you eat better and exercise more? Will you become more knowledgeable and active in the politics of your local community?
Whatever your resolutions, I wish the best for you and yours in the New Year. Remember, life is what you make of it. You are in control of your destiny.
I think in terms of the day’s resolutions, not the year’s. -Henry Moore
