On this a wide range of interests can agree – bankers and lenders, community advocates, civil rights leaders, educators, academics, and consumers. Many of these constituencies and interests offer a menu of financial literacy programs and initiatives for consumers. There is a wide range of financial literacy tools and resources readily available to help individuals and families begin to build personal assets and wealth.
The MoneyLink is designed to be an important delivery channel and communications platform for everyone interested in advancing the financial literacy of consumers.
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has been presenting his views to audiences on financial literacy and financial education and emphasizing the importance of financial literacy, both as a source of better decision-making by consumers and as a means of improving the functioning of financial markets. He highlights the extensive Federal Reserve System initiatives to promote financial education and regularly addresses some of the opportunities and challenges that both policymakers and financial educators and financial literacy advocates face as they seek to improve financial literacy.
Says Chairman Bernanke: Informed financial decision-making is vital for the healthy functioning of financial markets. Financial information is of value only to the extent that it can be understood and applied by potential users [of financial services].
