Have you met some golf players who just don’t care about proper golf etiquette on and off the course? Below is a list of some basic golf etiquette that you can share with your golf buddies!
1 – Be patient. This goes to show that you respect the other players. Treat them as you wish to be treated.
2 – Avoid being too loud. Normal conversation is ok, and will suffice.
3 – Prepare beforehand. You do not want to be late at your scheduled tee-off.
4 – While playing, be mindful so as not to avoid confusion. Check your ball number and marker always.
5 – Avoid performing practice swings on the tee-off zone.
6 – Don’t make noise when other players are about to make their shot.
7 – Avoid standing too close behind to other players.
8 – Do not cause delays, always be prepared to play your ball.
9 – After making a shot, leave tee right away.
10 – Be aware. Avoid playing your shot if a player is in hit distance.
11 – Repair any damage you have caused. For instance, make sure to use the rake after a bunker play.
12 – Avoid driving your golf cart over tee-off zones.
13 – Mirror the pace of your flight partners when walking.
14 – Observe not only your ball, but also that of the other players in your flight. This will conserve time, if they can’t find their ball after their shot.
Proper golf etiquette when on the green:
1 – Remember that the ball farthest to the hole has to be played first.
2 – Mark your ball the moment it lies on the green.
3 – Avoid standing close to the hole when you are holding the flag stick. Your shadow may cause interference to other players.
4 – Do not use your putter when pulling the ball out of the hole as it may cause damage to the hole. Proper golf etiquette is to pick up the ball instead.
5 – Avoid damaging the hole by replacing the flag stick with care.
