The world did not come to an end as some had expected. We made is out relatively unscathed. Although I discredited the thought of the world ending on that particular day in May, it did get me thinking. What would my legacy be if the world ended today? I propose the same question to you.
Since June is dedicated to celebrating fathers, let’s start there. If you asked your children what they truly thought of you as a father, what would they say? Would they reminisce about your ability to make everything better with a smile? Laugh about the hours spent fishing? Wish in hindsight that they had followed your advice more often? Or would they simply look at you and say nothing?
You do not want to be that father; a question mark in the box of where a father’s face should be. I am blessed with an amazing father. He has always been my number one fan. I know my daughter is lucky enough to have the same hero in her dad. There is nothing more important.
Dad, your guiding hand on my shoulder will remain with me forever. ~Author Unknown
Take this summer to celebrate your family and remember you are in the fight called life together. If you are not there to guide and support, who will be? Do not let someone else get the glory. Be the dad.
Happy Summer!
