I’d by lying to you if I told you that a week ago I knew what a “hashtag” was. Obviously I’ve seen it on my phone. I’ve been ordered to use it, e.g. press # after entering your credit card number. I get it in that context. On Twitter? That was a totally different story.
Last week I attended the National Association of Hispanic Journalist Conference at Disney’s Coronado Springs. Whenever anyone asked how the conference went, I smiled.
Before attending the NAHJ conference, I thought I knew what I was doing online. Boy was I wrong. There is so much out there that I have yet to learn. For the last week, I’ve been searching, adding, subtracting, and modifying the LATINOlinkVIEWS website. I’m having fun!
But, back to Twitter. I’ve been tweeting nonstop since I got back. It is an amazing platform to connect with people interested in what we’re doing in Orlando and beyond. Watching the timeline scroll throughout the day is addictive. It truly is. Think about it. You can read about webtools, Chavez, and NY Gay Marriage all in one place, from different perspectives, in different parts of the world.
A week later, I’m not going to pretend that I know what I’m doing (completely). I have yet to harness the power of Twitter. The picture is clearer that the future is online. Join me on the journey!

Happy Tweeting!
