People will ALWAYS surprise you.
I feel this is one of life’s laws, or rather, one of life’s certainties. It’s right up there with death, taxes, and God’s vengeance. You can know a person for a month or a decade. Yet whatever the time frame, there’s still a good chance that they’ll throw you one good curve ball when you least expect it.
This can be a good and bad thing.
The optimists among us – of which I am not – will see this as a wonderful thing. These flower power, yoga doing, always smiley, folks say, “People can change” or “People can improve”.
The pessimists – my people – will see this more realistically (IMHO). These Eeyore loving, sad music playing, Emo peeps tell it like it really is. That is, “people will hurt you, disappoint you, backstab you, act hypocritically, act stupidly, etc.”
Interestingly, it’s one of these negative things that spurred this entry (specifically the act stupidly). Yet, despite that, I feel no sadness. I think it’s more hilarious than anything. It’s got that humorous shock value associated with it than any negativity or sadness. My response is, “Get out!” rather than, “Oh my God, I need a drink”. In this specific instance, I just can’t understand how someone so smart can act like such an idiot!
