Melina Cepin and Dominican style cakes are synonyms. Melina learned a basic recipe of a 12” Dominican style cake back in New York in 1998. By 1999, she and her husband moved to Kissimmee to raise their two children. In Kissimmee, she continued her passion for baking, although, very informal and only for family and friends. Like most new transplants to Central Florida, Melina managed to get a job as customer service and sales representative, but still was not baking professionally.
When you are handed lemons, you must make lemonade. In 2007, her family was going through very diffi cult times and her sister Claudia asked her to bake a cake for an event she had at work. At that moment, Melina’s Sweet Delights came to life.
New orders brought new challenges. Whether an order for a tier cake or specialty cake Melina accepted the challenge, using magazines and TV shows as inspiration she was able to deliver and become the professional she is today. Recognized by “Melina Cepin: Dominican Style Cakes.”
She is grateful for her sister Claudia; she was the one who advised her to turn her passion into a business and has been behind her since then.
